You’ve probably heard the hype in recent years about the announcements of Pantone’s Color of the Year. But what do you do if their choice isn’t quite what you had in mind for your home’s interior? We wanted to let you know that there are a few other color resources that are geared more towards interior design to help you find what you’re looking for!
Pantone Color of the Year 2016: Rose Quartz & Serenity
Pantone’s well-known color of the year guide is intended to showcase the newest trends for fashion and design. With this year’s surprise introduction of two colors, Pantone is also making a statement in balance, contrast, and as they mention, equality.
If you love this trend, we’d be happy to help incorporate it into your home. You may quickly tire of a pink sofa with blue walls, but perhaps adding a nod to this trend in your accessories, bedding or art may help to give you the soothing and relaxed feeling intended by the mix of these colors.
Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2016: Simply White
Benjamin Moore is touting their choice for home interiors, Simply White OC-117, as a subtle and soothing shade for home interiors. They suggest that it creates a bright background, is excellent when layered with many whites, but can also add the contrast to the bold pops of color to help your favorite pieces stand out!
While Simply White will pair well with almost any color, for the greatest impact of this trend, we would suggest one or two contrasting colors added to an overall Simply White backdrop.

Sherwin Williams Color Forecast: Alabaster
Sherwin Williams’ choice for 2016, Alabaster 7008, may seem similar to Benjamin Moore’s, and it is. These two paint experts believe 2016 is a time for new beginnings, “personal solace and revival of weary minds.” This neutral is a slightly creamier white, but still provides the soothing backdrop and contrast to more saturated hues.

Colormix 2016 – Sherwin Williams
Even better than their selected color of the year, one of my favorite color trend resources is Sherwin Williams’ Colormix 2016. Here they give suggestions for color palettes based on trends they see in our global society. Typically a neutrals palette and a bright colors palette, plus two palettes based on their yearly ideas of the current trends. While some of the colors are extremely bright, with a quick assessment of your space and style, we could help incorporate these palettes into your home without overwhelming you with color!
